PokeBonk Guardians: Encounters & Run Progress
Current source scope: Beta v0.7.3 · Checked October 19, 2026
THE QUICK ANSWER
In Classic, use the big map’s guardian altar marker to reach a zone guardian. The announced encounters include a normal phase and a low-HP Fury phase; jump or move out of visible attacks and keep space from escorts. Defeating a guardian advances the zone route, but it is not the same as defeating a regional shrine legendary.

The inspected Viridian Forest guardian set includes Scyther, Raichu, Golduck, Pinsir, Poliwrath, Persian, Nidoking, Golem and Arcanine. They are candidate guardians rather than an icon list that proves a fixed zone-by-zone order. This page does not invent a separate attack script for each species.
The regional shrine legendary is a distinct encounter from a zone guardian. Support Alphas are also a different class of encounter/capture. A future map’s announced boss should not be inserted into this current Forest reference as already playable.
Find the altar and awaken the guardian
The current map-help text explicitly describes the interaction and next-zone portal. Client rules prevent waking the same guardian again after it has spawned and can show a psychic-barrier message while the Mewtwo event is active. The map guide explains which progression markers are revealed; visibility alone does not mean the encounter has been completed.
- Open the big map and locate the guardian altar. Patch #7 shows it before discovery.
- Place a marker if needed and reach the altar while keeping space to move. Level up and open useful item Poké Balls before committing.
- Press the interaction key at the altar (E by default), or use the matching touch/controller prompt, to awaken the zone guardian.
- Watch for the encounter’s attacks and escorts. Defeat the guardian to open the portal to the next zone.
Responses supported by the official boss notes
The announced hit rule limits a single boss hit to one third of maximum HP and applies Wounded, reducing healing by half for four seconds. That is not immunity to overlapping threats. The Fury threshold is described as low HP; an exact percentage was not verified. Long fights also gain Exhaustion pressure, with damage doubling every twenty seconds after it begins; the exact starting threshold is not established here.
| Threat / rule | Useful response |
|---|---|
| Shockwave | Use jump or move out as the visible attack permits. |
| Burst and Fury attacks | Respect warning areas; Fury adds Whirlwind, Skyfall and hostile ground in the encounter notes. |
| Elite escorts | Keep the surrounding enemies in view rather than staring only at the boss. |
| Boss leaps when you run too far | Do not assume unlimited distance removes the encounter. |
| Status lock break | After two seconds locked, the boss breaks free with five seconds of immunity; do not plan permanent control. |
| Impatient after 12 seconds without damage | Expect faster attacks; indefinite disengagement is not free. |
Confirm progress before following the next marker
After the guardian falls, read the current reward and exit/portal state. Follow the available progression prompt instead of treating any visible portal icon as already cleared. Classic’s route spans three zones and a regional shrine encounter; Survival follows a different endurance structure.
For a missing result or interrupted transition, use recovery checks. The current patch describes boss/support-healing fixes, but no universal victory strategy or guaranteed capture follows from those notes. This guide has not played the encounter.
